How to undo a CSV import in Shopify
Shopify has no undo button for product CSV imports. To reverse a bad import you can re-import an export taken before the mistake, fix the products by hand, or use an app that recorded the previous values. The risk in every case is overwriting the fixes people made after the import.
Why it happens
The most common cause is a spreadsheet changing the file on save. When a CSV is opened and saved in a program that uses a comma as decimal separator, 49.95 can become 4995 and every price is multiplied by 100.
Other causes: columns shifted by one, blank cells that overwrite values, or an export from one store imported into another.
Option 1: re-import an earlier export
If you exported the products before the import, you can import that file again with “Overwrite products with matching handles”.
Watch out: the old file also overwrites every change made since, including manual fixes, and blank cells in the file can erase values. Only do it if nobody has touched the catalog since.
Option 2: fix it by hand
Workable for a handful of products. With hundreds it is slow and error-prone, and there is no record of what the original value was.
Option 3: undo from a change history
An app that records every change knows the value before the import, right after it and now. That lets it undo only the fields the import changed and nobody touched afterwards, and show the rest as conflicts.
This is what Reversa does: it groups the import as one event, saves a restore point, undoes it and reads the store again to check every field.
What Shopify offers natively
The store activity log shows who did what, but it is view-only, lists at most 250 events and does not store before-and-after values, according to Shopify's documentation (September 2026). There is no recycle bin or version history for products.
Frequently asked questions
Can I undo a Shopify CSV import?
Not with a native button. You need an earlier export, manual fixes, or an app that recorded the previous values.
Does re-importing an old export undo the import?
It restores the values in that file, but it also overwrites every change made since, including manual fixes.
Does undoing a CSV import affect inventory?
It should not. Stock changes with every sale, so inventory should be left out of any bulk undo.
