Reversa

What Reversa records and what it does not

Updated

Reversa records the catalog changes Shopify reports and helps you undo them field by field. Some things are recorded but not reverted, such as inventory, and some stay outside Reversa, such as orders and customers.

Recorded and can be undone

Recorded but not reverted

Inventory
Stock changes with every sale. Reversa records every change with its before and after, but never reverts it: going back to an old number could let you sell items you do not have.
Deleted products
The deletion is recorded in Events, with the product's last known values, but Reversa does not recreate it: Shopify would give a new product a different ID, which would break old orders, reviews and links.
Manual collections
Which products are in a manual collection is recorded, but not undone: only automated collections are restored.

Frequently asked questions

Does Reversa touch inventory?

No. Stock changes are recorded so you can see what happened, but they are never restored: sales change stock all the time, and going back to an old number could let you sell items you do not have.

Can it recover deleted products?

No. If a product is deleted, Reversa records that it happened, with its last known values, but it does not recreate it, because Shopify would give it a new ID and that would break old orders, reviews and links.

Can it recover deleted images?

Only if Reversa kept a copy: the copy must have completed and still be within your plan’s period. The image comes back with a new URL. Images deleted before installing Reversa cannot be recovered.
